The Research and Prospect Manager is responsible for conducting in-depth research to identify major gift prospects and manage and implement the major prospect tracking system in the Raiser’s Edge database. This is a part time (20 hrs/week) position.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND KEY OBJECTIVES
Research:
Collaborate with the Director of Institutional Advancement to set objectives for the prospect research program in concurrence with the fundraising mission and goals of Brooks School;
Conduct in-depth research on individuals and foundations using publicly available information to determine prospects’ relationships with the school, interests, and giving capacity;
Analyze current donors and prospects and successfully articulates biographical, financial, and other relevant information into bios and comprehensive research profiles.
Qualify new and existing major prospects by utilization of information gained through analysis of data and third-party research vendors;
Prepare updates and written profiles on potential individual and foundation prospects for major gift officers and the head of school;
Create, manage, and review list alerts and other resources (screenings) or prospecting resources;
proactively identify possible new donors and determine their giving capacity;
Ensure that top prospect profiles are accurate and up-to-date.
Work closely with Advancement Services to help ensure accurate and up-to-date information in the database;
Be willing to attend research training and Raiser’s Edge training (if needed).
Prospect Management:
Implement and manage the prospect management and tracking system, recording and changing ratings, prospect managers, classifications, statuses, etc., in the Raiser’s Edge database;
Record prospects' interests from research and fundraiser’s recommendations;
Create and review Google alerts for top prospects;
Participate in major and principal donor review and strategy sessions;
Utilize Raiser’s Edge database and record-keeping systems for information storage and retrieval.

QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
Bachelor’s degree preferred
Experience:
Experience working with a relational database to track, store and report on data helpful;
Raiser’s Edge database experience a plus;
Experience working in the non-profit area will be an advantage
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Ability to work with confidential information and maintain confidentiality
Exceptional research skills and a natural curiosity
Highly organized, detail-oriented, with excellent follow through
Outstanding oral and written skills
Data analysis skills
Google Drive, Word, Excel, Online Research Tools, and Relational Databases. LexisNexis knowledge is a plus.
