Communications Associate
Since 1800, when St. Madeleine Sophie Barat founded the Society of the Sacred Heart in France, Religious of the Society of the Sacred Heart and lay Sacred Heart educators have carried out her imperative of educational excellence. The Communications Associate is a key member of the Communications team at Carrollton and collaborates with members of the community to strategize, implement, and promote the school’s initiatives, brand, and Sacred Heart mission. The Communications Associate should have a strong understanding of digital media and demonstrate expertise in writing, social media, and creative practices. This is a full-time salaried/exempt position and reports to the Director of Communications.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: The duties and responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:
- A commitment to the Goals and Criteria of Sacred Heart network schools as articulated in the school mission.
- Own and manage the School’s social media platforms as vital storytelling elements to promote and advance the Carrollton brand.
- Build community and engagement on Carrollton’s media platforms.
- Capture the essence of the Carrollton experience through the student perspective. Additionally, communicate creatively the accomplishments of the community (alumnae, Board of Trustees, faculty, staff, and students).
- Help write press releases and disseminate articles about Carrollton to proper channels.
- Assist in developing and implementing a robust new media strategy to drive awareness and engagement activities for the School.
- Help execute social media strategy by researching and responding to audience preferences.
- Assist in the creation and sharing of visual content (images and video) across all of Carrollton’s platforms to engage with different audiences.
- Contribute to writing and publishing on Carrollton’s website, as well as the print calendar and school magazine.
- Take collateral photos and videos at school events, and be willing to communicate with faculty, staff, students, and parents when assistance is needed for event coverage.
- Archive external publications about Carrollton.
- Assist in the translation of Carrollton messages to make sure all communications support and act in accordance with Carrollton’s mission and values.
- Work closely with the Admissions and Advancement teams on collaborative projects to support departmental goals, and to ultimately advance Carrollton.
- Uphold Carrollton’s standards of professional courtesy, punctuality, discretion, and confidentiality.
- Carry out additional duties based on the needs of different communication projects.
- Collaborate with the M-12 Visual Arts team and Discipline Chair to ensure cohesive Vertical curricular alignment for students at transitional years of 3-4 and 6-7.
Qualifications:
- A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in communications or a related field.
- At least 2+ year(s) professional experience in creative services, writing, education, communications, marketing, or public relations.
- Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite programs and/or Canva is required.
- Proficiency with AP Style.
- Fluency in a Spanish or French is a plus.
- Demonstrated planning and preparation skills.
- Willingness to work on a team and be involved in the life of Carrollton.
- Strong writing, social media planning, and execution, editing, speaking, technical, organizational, interpersonal, and creative skills.
