Tilton School seeks a qualified Tutor to teach full-time in the Tilton School Center for Academic Achievement. Specific teaching duties include working one-on-one or in small tutorial groups with a range of students, developing effective learning habits (i.e. time management and organization skills) and improving student academic skills and content understanding.The Tutor will work under the supervision of the Director of the Center for Academic Achievement.
Preference will be given to candidates who can demonstrate:
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in teaching, or closely related field;
- Academic training in special education, TESOL and/or learning differences;
- Experience with a range of ed-tech strategies to promote learning;
- Demonstrable skills in oral and written communication;
- Understanding of learning styles, differentiated instruction, universal design for learning, and assessment;
- Ability to work creatively and efficiently under tight deadline while balancing multiple projects;
- Skill at managing multi-faceted work within a supportive learning community;
- Experience or interest in learning the Understanding by Design curriculum development framework is expected.
Other duties for this position include: advising, participation as an athletic coach or activities leader for two seasons a year, active participation in our residential program including weeknight-weekend supervision.
