In seeking its next Head of School, Christ Episcopal School in Covington, Louisiana is looking for an energetic, enthusiastic visionary leader with exceptional communication and interpersonal skills who can inspire the confidence and respect of the entire school community. The Head of School embodies the mission of the school and articulates the mission for all aspects of the school’s program. The Head of School fosters the traditions, relationships, and practices that determine the school’s climate and culture. The Head of School is the spokesperson for the school with all its internal and external constituencies including students, parents, faculty, staff, alumni, neighbors, community, governmental agencies, and local, state, regional, and national educational organizations, and accrediting agencies. The school seeks an individual who respects and celebrates diversity and who will embrace its unique Episcopal identity while continuing its educational philosophy of academic excellence within a warm and welcoming environment. The next Head of School will assume office in July 2023.

PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS

The successful candidate will possess:

• strong faculty leadership, coaching abilities, and experience
• head of school (or senior administrative leadership) experience at an independent school
• demonstrated skill in managing people and schools
• strategic, long range planning abilities and entrepreneurial skills
• business / financial experience and acumen

CHALLENGES AND OPPORTUNITIES

In particular, the next Head of School will be expected to:

• Develop and articulate a compelling case for the school’s curriculum, programs, culture, Episcopal identity and demonstrate a track record of success with prospective and current parents, donors, and the wider community;
• Continue the implementation of the school’s existing strategic plan and/or play the lead role in the vision, creation, and implementation of a new strategic plan
• Enhance revenue through proven enrollment and fundraising strategies to create growth in enrollment, improve retention of students, propel academic programs forward, and position the school to succeed into the future
• Uphold standards of excellence;
• Strengthen leadership and evaluation of the administrative team
• Uphold standards of student conduct
• Effectively recruit and retain faculty and staff;
• Keep Christ Episcopal competitive with other schools in the area;
• Maintain a strong sense of community

Master’s degree or higher required with teacher certification preferred.
Several years of classroom and administrative experience in a private or independent school setting.
Experience working in a Pre-kindergarten through 12th grade school preferred
