MIDDLE SCHOOL AND UPPER SCHOOL COMPUTER SCIENCE TEACHER
Norfolk Collegiate is seeking qualified candidates for a part-time middle and upper school computer science teaching position in the Design Thinking and Computing department. This position will be responsible for teaching classes such as AP Computer Science Principles, AP Computer Science A, and Programming with Python, with the possibility of one or more middle school courses in the future.
Norfolk Collegiate's Design Thinking and Computing program focuses on the big ideas driving technological innovation and helping students to expand with digital and mechanical skills used in real-world problem solving. Students develop coding skills in a rich array of programming courses; learn to use software dedicated to creating digital artwork in design thinking and art classes; and flourish as creating thinkers, doers and explorers at Collegiate.
A successful candidate for this position will have a degree in Computer Science, Science, Mathematics, or a related discipline; a strong background in computers and other technologies; excellent organizational and communication skills; and experience working with adolescents. Ideal candidates will have teaching experience in an upper school setting and a commitment to interdisciplinary approaches to learning. We seek teachers who are knowledgeable and enthusiastic about teaching middle school and upper school students. Candidates should have a demonstrated interest in working with students from a variety of backgrounds who possess a range of abilities and learning styles. This position requires collaborative work with others; therefore, this individual must be able to work effectively with colleagues and parents.
