Upper School English Teacher, Leave Replacement

Position: Upper School English Teacher, Leave Replacement
Reports to: Upper School Division Head and English Department Chair
FLSA: Exempt, full-time
Salary Range: Prorated, based on an annualized salary of $62,000 - $85,000 commensurate with education and experience
Summary:
Convent of the Sacred Heart is seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Upper School English teacher for a semester-long leave replacement. The ideal candidate will have three or more years of teaching experience and have shown a demonstrated interest in upper-school education. This is a full-time position, beginning in late August 2023 and continuing through January 2024, though it has the potential to continue for the remainder of the academic year.
Responsibilities:
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Teaching four sections of English 10: World Literature
- Providing academic support for students outside of class time
- Attending department and faculty meetings
- Serving as an advisor and in other support roles
- Being actively involved in the life of the school
Requirements & Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in English or a related field required
- Previous teaching experience preferred
- Excellent organizational, written, and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency with current educational technology
- Knowledge of, appreciation for, and demonstrated commitment to anti-racist and anti-bias education, multicultural teaching, and culturally responsive pedagogy
