Position Summary
The Co-Lead teacher will partner with one of our experienced Elementary teachers in helping to teach, lead demonstrations, and plan the curriculum. Responsibilities include teaching math, reading, and writing workshops, culture, and science units. Looking for an experienced Montessori-trained elementary teacher who has demonstrated the ability to effectively co-teach and bring creativity into the classroom. At Daycroft we have a close-knit community where teachers help one another, partner with one another, and support one another in helping our students.
Responsibilities
- Create an engaging learning environment that fosters student interest and independence.
- Support and meet students' social and emotional needs in creating a nurturing environment.
- Deliver differentiated lessons to meet students in their learning process.
- Work collaboratively with our specialty teachers to build upon classroom lessons in math, geography, culture, reading & writing.
- Meet weekly with elementary staff to discuss curriculum and projects.
- Give written comments back on students’ work in a timely manner.
- Attend faculty meetings and participate in lunch recess activities.
Experience and Professional Competencies
- Experience in teaching elementary students– a minimum of 3 years is preferred
- Lower/upper Elementary Montessori Certification
- A bachelor’s degree
- A Michigan Teacher Certification is desired
