A Preschool Assistant Teacher is passionate about supporting the children and teachers of the Preschool as they live out Forsyth Country Day School’s mission of preparing our children for what’s ahead. The preschool assistant teacher will be responsible for helping the teacher to foster growth in all domains of development. Those domains include the following: Social/Emotional, Language/Literacy, Math/Logical Reasoning, Physical (fine and gross motor), and Adaptive Skills. Assistant Teachers are committed to growth as professionals and individuals, and value and respect every member of the community.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Model and instill a love of learning
- Support a developmentally appropriate classroom environment that reflects the children’s learning and growth
- Support student performance in all areas of development: Social Emotional, Language and Literacy, Logical Mathematical, and Physical
- Support appropriate instruction in line with the school standards, curriculum, and student needs
- Create a positive educational climate for students to learn in an atmosphere of respect and rapport
- Establish and maintain a cooperative working relationship with students and families based on trust, understanding, and respect
- Manage student behavior in the classroom by utilizing effective classroom management strategies

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree preferred; early childhood credentials required
- Minimum two years of teaching in an early childhood environment
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Regularly required to walk, including across uneven ground, talk, hear, reach with hands and arms, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds
- Must be able to sit and stand on the floor throughout the day, and bend, kneel, or squat to be at eye level with children.
- Must be able to operate a computer and have basic knowledge of Google Workspace
- Must be able to access and navigate all areas of the school and other facilities as needed
- Must be able to utilize oral and written communication skills effectively
