The Downtown School, an independent 9-12 coeducational day school located near Seattle Center in Seattle, Washington is currently recruiting for the Director of Enrollment Management position. The ideal candidate will join a team of colleagues who are energetic, creative and collaborative; and the candidate will have a crucial role in crafting, articulating and implementing a long-term vision for the admissions and financial aid program. The Director of Enrollment Management reports directly to the Head of School.
Responsibilities The ideal candidate will have experience with and/or the ability to:
Lead and or oversee all aspects of the admissions, enrollment, and re-enrollment process.
Understand admissions, financial aid, and enrollment trends, including the admissions landscape in the Greater Seattle Area; and the candidate will create a long-term vision for our program.
Audit The Downtown School’s current admissions process, look for opportunities for improvement, and implement creative solutions in order to increase the funnel from prospective families to enrolled students.
Lead and manage an admissions team of teaching faculty and staff through all aspects of the admissions process including, but not limited to, interviewing candidates, leading tours, hosting admissions events, reading files, and running admissions committee meetings.
Set up our admissions database annually, ensuring a clear process with positive user experience.
Work with brand consultants to hone The Downtown School’s value proposition and establish clear brand messaging.
Create reports, analyze data, and make data-driven marketing decisions. Partner with the Director of Communications on implementation of marketing strategies.
Attract and enroll a diverse group of mission-appropriate students.
Engage thoughtfully with students and families from diverse ethnic, gender, socioeconomic, and educational backgrounds.
Connect with other admissions professionals in the area through the consortium of Puget Sound Independent Schools (PSIS) and other networks.
Understand and connect with the extended community: trustees, students, faculty, staff, parents and guardians, alumni, and applicants and their families.
Maintain a sense of humor and demonstrate the ability to see the positive in challenging situations.
Be an advisor for 10-14 students, and be involved in the life of The Downtown School.
Requirements and Qualifications Bachelor’s degree is required; master’s degree is preferred. In addition, successful candidates will have five or more years of relevant experience in admissions. They will possess excellent skills in listening, counseling, verbal and written communication, public speaking, technology, flexibility, creativity, and a proclivity for employing new approaches to their work. Strong organizational and time management skills are required. and successful candidates must be able to work occasional evenings and weekends. Finally, candidates must satisfactorily complete a criminal background check.
