Position: Public Safety Officer
Reports to: Director of Safety & Security
Job Summary: The Public Safety Officer is responsible for assisting the Director of Safety and Security in the day to day operations and safety of the School’s campus. This role will assist with the activation and implementation of the campus crisis plan; investigate incidents; patrol campus to ensure buildings and other property are secure; and enforce all campus rules and policies. The Public Safety Officer is expected to embrace Malvern’s mission and core values in all facets.
Essential Duties:
- Performs day-to-day administrative tasks for the safety & security team
- Maintains strict confidence by keeping student, parents, and employee information confidential.
- Uses Google Suite to manage data
- Greets visitors in person and callers by telephone and addresses their inquiries or directs them to the appropriate person within the department or within the Malvern Prep campus
- Work closely with the campus community by educating, implementing, and activitating the campus crisis plan
- Advise and inform the Malvern community on safety and security matters
- Identify challenges and make recommendations to the Director of Safety & Security
- Provide leadership and direction in an emergency
- During major events on campus, will assist with parking
- Under the supervision of the Director of Safety & Security, will conduct investigations as necessary
- Keeps up-to-date with innovations in the safety and security field, and works to adopt new practices.
- Must be able to work a flexible work schedule, which may include nights, weekend, and holidays
- Displays high ethical, professional, and confidential behavior and standards.
- Builds and maintains a professional rapport with a broad audience – student, parents, and all faculty/staff.

Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree preferred, not required
- 1+ years of experience in a public safety/security environment, emergency response agency (including military service) or security agency.
- CPR and First Aid certified, or willing to be certified within 3-6 months of employment
- School Resource Officer certified, or willing to be certified within 3-6 months of employment
- Demonstrates knowledge of Google Suite, security technology such as video, door management systems and alarms, and the workings of social media.
- Must have a valid driver’s license
- Must have current (dated within a year) clearances
