Old Trail School is seeking a physical education and swim teacher for students in Early Childhood through Grade Eight. This position will also be responsible for teaching health class to middle school students and may serve as an advisor to a small group of middle school students. The candidate must possess a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a related field and must also meet the State of Ohio licensure requirements to teach Physical Education. This person must possess or be willing to obtain certification in Water Safety Instructor and Lifeguard training through the American Red Cross. This person must be an effective communicator and collaborator. This candidate should possess the ability to establish and continue working relationships with supervisors, colleagues, parents, students, and the broader school community. 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Instruction of physical education, fitness, health, and athletics using the established curriculum for Old Trail School.
• Work cooperatively with other members of the Physical Education Department, as well as other teachers within the school.
• Demonstrate, analyze, and evaluate motor or sports skills.
• Develop unit plans and daily lesson plans for all instruction taking place.
• Provide feedback and grading, including narrative comment writing. 
• Provide a safe environment for instruction to take place.
• Supervise students while out of classroom (lunchroom, hallway, recess, playground etc.)
• Maintains current State of Ohio Teaching License, Lifeguarding and Water Safety Instructor certifications.
• Attends and participates in professional development and continuing education opportunities offered by the school.
• Perform any other duties as directed by supervisor or other school administrator.
• Attending division and department meetings on a regular basis.

• Coaching at least two sports per academic year is required and compensation is included in the salary.
  
  

• Must have the physical ability to stand for extended periods of time on a gymnasium floor or pool deck and to walk the extended distances of our campus to reach the tennis courts and athletic fields.
• Must be able to travel to the gymnasiums and pool which are located on various levels within the school, these are accessible by a staircase and elevator. 
• Must possess the ability to move freely about in a gymnasium to properly instruct and evaluate students on motor skills and/or swim skills. 
• Willing and able to enter and exit the swimming pool to instruct swimming.
• Must have the ability to move and position gym equipment, some of which consists of large and heavy items. 
• Must be able to supervise the girl's locker room. 

• 3-5 years of experience preferred.
