Sacramento Country Day School, the regional leader in Pre-Kindergarten through 12th grade independent school education since 1964, seeks a Middle and High School Library Assistant for the 2023-2024 school year. The Matthews Library serves over 300 students in grades 6 through 12. This position is hourly, $22 -$28/hr, five days 30 hours/week from mid-August to late-June. This position includes full benefits including healthcare over summer months.
The Middle and High School Library Assistant is responsible for:
- Technical services including updating Follett Destiny online catalog and processing materials
- Circulation services including working with volunteers on shelving and shelf maintenance; troubleshooting equipment and software issues
- Encouraging a love of reading by creating diverse and inclusive library displays, helping to plan events, and providing informal reading guidance
- Social media and website management
- Assisting with student research projects by creating LibGuides and documents and helping with student reference questions
- Helping create a learning environment that is warm, welcoming, flexible, and fun with a DEIB lens
Requirements
The successful candidate will have the following attributes:
- Previous library experience including knowledge of MARC records
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and technology skills (Apple, Mac, Follett helpful)
- Ability to communicate with and successfully supervise middle and high school students (this will require a sense of humor and an appreciation for the age group)
- Demonstrated work ethic, attention to detail, and ability to work with multiple interruptions
- Bachelor’s Degree preferred
School requirements include: Background check, First Aid/CPR training (school sponsored), negative TB result.
