Compensation:
Compensation is competitive and includes year-round housing plus utilities, and meals when school is in session. Health and retirement benefits, including TIAA-CREF, are part of the compensation package. Funding exists to support advanced degree work, as well participation in professional growth opportunities such as conferences and workshops.

Job Summary: STEM Faculty are responsible for fostering a positive experience for every student and family, providing classroom instruction, and assisting with other elements of the South Kent enrichment programs. This position requires a desire to embrace the unique STEM model at South Kent School which includes the integration of Mastery-based curriculum in the fields of both mathematics and science with a primary focus on classroom discussion of course content, scholarly research, and critical thinking and reasoning. In addition to teaching courses, the faculty member is expected to serve as an advisor for South Kent students.
Responsibilities:
- Demonstrates the use of Mastery based teaching practices and pedagogies.
- Demonstrates the use of appropriate understanding of Understanding by Design practices, including the development of syllabi and assessments.
- Maintains instructional spaces in accordance with institutional safety guidelines.
- Implements departmental curricula, objectives, assessments, and policies.
- Teaches the curriculum designed for the course during class periods, as assigned.
- Offers regular and specific feedback on student work.
- Available for extra support during study hall, which includes some evenings and weekends.
- Oversees student advisees as assigned, meeting with them at least weekly, and maintains appropriate records on each advisee.
- Follows School protocol about regular contact with the parents of students and advisees.
- Attends meetings as required and appropriate.

Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree is required, Master's Degree is preferred and must be in the discipline of math, science or related field.
- Must have at least a minimum of three years of related experience, preferably as an instructor/teacher in a secondary or post-secondary setting
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in the English language.
- Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills
- Ability to work flexible hours when necessary.
- Must have experience with Google Suite and Microsoft Office.
- First Aid/CPR/AED certification preferred.
