Summary and Scope of Position:
The Director of Alumnae Engagement leads a dynamic engagement program that establishes and fosters lifelong relationships between and amongst more than 4,000 Baldwin alumnae and the School. The Director works collaboratively to develop and implement a comprehensive program that strengthens loyalty, nurtures a sense of community amongst alumnae, provides meaningful opportunities for engagement through programming, volunteering and special events, and inspires increasing levels of participation and investment in Baldwin.
Essential Job Functions:
- Provides vision, leadership, and direct management of a dynamic alumnae engagement program;
- Works collaboratively to plan and execute the vision and mission of the school as related to alumnae engagement;
- Provides effective leadership to, guidance of and support for the Alumnae Leadership Council and ensures that the Council goals are aligned with Baldwin's mission and department strategy;
- Engages alumnae in the life of the School through consistent and positive communication using electronic, print and social media, exceptional customer service and by creating meaningful opportunities for volunteerism, service, personal and professional development, events and programs;
- Recruit, train and steward regional volunteers. Develop volunteer training programs and best practices to educate and support these leaders in achieving their goals, program, events, and communications;
- Responsible for the identification and recruitment of reunion chairs and reunion committee members, and for the development of those committees for maximized volunteer engagement and participation in reunions;
- Develop strategic and metric-driven alumnae engagement strategies in order to meet designated alumnae engagement goals. Annually benchmark, monitor, and adjust as necessary, the assigned program areas as they related to defined goals, procedures, budgets, timetables, national trends and innovations in reunion programs;
- Participate in the prospect management process and collaborate with colleagues to develop comprehensive engagement and cultivation strategies for existing and potential donors.
- Contributes to the overall success of the Advancement Office by working on special initiatives, projects and events, and performing all other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the CDO.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree required;
- Strong passion and commitment to the Baldwin School mission;
- A minimum of five (5) or more years of progressively responsible alumnae, development, event planning or volunteer management experience, preferably within an educational or non-profit setting;
- Ability to prioritize work and perform multiple tasks simultaneously while adhering to deadlines;
- Excellent interpersonal skills, a commitment to collaboration within a diverse community, positive attitude and customer-service mindset;
- Strong communication skills, including the ability to give presentations to diverse audiences through a variety of media platforms, comfort in public speaking, and ability to have difficult conversations;
- Strong computer software skills including MS Office Suite, email marketing, social media and networked information systems; Familiarity with Raiser's Edge databases a plus;
- Ability to travel and attendance at evening and/or weekend activities, meetings, events, seminars, and workshops;
- Ability to handle sensitive and highly confidential information with discretion and judgment;
- Experience supervising and developing full time staff;
- A valid driver's license;
