The Newman School is seeking a parental leave replacement Spanish Teacher, February 1 - June 4, 2025. Newman School Faculty report directly to the Assistant Head of School and are a member of an educational department. Candidates with International Baccalaureate experience are encouraged to apply. The teacher is responsible for planning and implementing the course curriculum, as designed and assigned by the department chair, and meeting the departmental major objectives. The successful candidate will be a passionate educator who is committed to the mission of Newman and displays a sensitivity to and understanding of students with diverse learning styles. The Spanish teacher will foster a positive, structured, and caring environment, while also adhering to the goals of the International Baccalaureate - to develop inquiring, knowledgeable, and caring young people who help to create a better and more peaceful world through intercultural understanding and respect.
Qualifications:
? A bachelor’s degree in Spanish, language teaching, education, or a related field is required
? A master’s degree is preferred
? At least two years of experience working in a school environment with students in grades 7-12
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
? Prepare and deliver engaging and developmentally appropriate Spanish lessons to students in grades 7-12
? Engage in professional development related to the International Baccalaureate
? Effectively use technology to enhance instruction and learning
? Assess student performance and provide feedback that supports growth and development
? Conduct parent conferences and communicate effectively with parents and families
? Collaborate with colleagues in grade-level team meetings and department meetings
