Description: The Overlake School seeks a middle school math teacher. The ideal candidate is an outstanding middle grades educator who will work to ensure student success. The math teacher should contribute enthusiastically to our school community and will work closely with a grade-level team as well as with the Mathematics and Computer Science department. The ideal candidate will be comfortable fostering supportive student-teacher-family relationships and differentiating instruction for a diverse group of students.
Course assignments will likely include Algebra 1 and Geometry, but we would also welcome teachers with experience or desire to teach PreAlgebra, Computer Science, or Algebra 2. Classes are student centered and focus is on the ‘why’ of math rather than the ‘how.’ Students understanding what they are doing is more important than speed and following math rules. Teaching Responsibilities and Duties: Teach four sections of math, lead an advisory (homeroom), supervise Study Hall, sponsor a Middle School club, and lead students on a one-week Project Week offering in the spring. Teachers are also required to attend Grade-level team meetings, department meetings, division, and all-school faculty meetings.
Salary: $57,200 - $105,542 depending on education and experience.

Required Qualifications:
Successful candidates are teachers who inspire students to love mathematics. Further, strong candidates must demonstrate the following:
- Bachelor’s degree in mathematics, math education or a related field
- Computer literacy and technological proficiency, with interest in incorporating technology into the classroom
- A desire to put cultural competency at the heart of their pedagogy and skill at working with a diverse population in an inclusive and equitable community
- Belief in the critical importance of diversity in the life of the school and excitement about working to build and maintain a classroom that honors diversity of opinion and practice
- Commitment to modeling and exhibiting high standards of scholarship
- Familiarity with differentiated instruction and the ability to simultaneously engage students at a variety of levels of mathematics background
- Capacity to communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues
- Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues within, and outside of, the department and grade-level teams
