The Valley School offers salaries that are competitive with comparable schools in the Seattle area and are commensurate with experience and credentials. The pay for Substitute Teachers is $25.00 per hour. This position does not qualify for our benefits package.

Position Overview
The substitute teacher is a team player, possesses strong communication skills, and is flexible, creative and resourceful. This position reports to and works alongside the faculty and reports to the Director of Teaching and Learning.
Essential Functions of the Substitute Teacher
- Typically with an additional teacher, oversee a group of approximately 10-20 students spanning grades from PreK through 5th Grade levels between the hours of 8:00am-6:00 p.m., Monday Friday, as needed for that day, not to exceed 8 hours in a day. This includes time on Valley’s playground, as well as managing indoor learning activities.
- Possess a genuine appreciation and concern for the education and development of children • Maintain developmentally appropriate practices and possess strong group management skills
- Nurture kind and respectful relationships with children
- Maintain confidentiality and nurture healthy relationships with families
- Help maintain an inviting, safe, and organized environment

Qualifications
- Successful experience working with elementary school-age children
- Bachelor’s Degree preferred
