Bayside Academy seeks an exceptional and innovative science instructor for our Middle School (grades 5-8). We are currently searching for an 8th grade science teacher - ideally an educator who has experience teaching the physical sciences (Bayside’s 8th grade curriculum).  The ideal teaching candidate will be versatile in which science topics he or she can teach and must be passionate about the education of students in the middle years. S/he must appreciate the role that scientific reasoning and engineering design play in a robust science curriculum and must be dynamic and student-centered in their instructional approach. S/he must be knowledgeable in interdisciplinary content and pedagogy; experience teaching robotics and computer science/coding is a big plus. Strong interpersonal and communication skills are critical as relationships are the cornerstone to student success and our team approach to serving students. This individual must be willing and able to develop strong, trusting relationships with all community stakeholders - including students, colleagues, and parents.

• Must have a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university;
• MS teaching experience highly preferred;
• Passion for MS students and teaching preadolescents required;
• Teaching experience within the physical sciences preferred;
• Familiarity with Next Generation Science Standards preferred;
• Experience with teaching robotics and/or coding/computer science a big plus;
• Experience as a MS coach or desire to coach MS sports a big plus;
• Ability to use the latest educational technology and understanding of traditional and progressive pedagogy required.
