Charleston Collegiate - Upper School Spanish Teacher
Charleston Collegiate School (CCS) is an independent day school which strives to recognize, nurture, and challenge each of its students. The Role:
Charleston Collegiate School is seeking a long-term substitute Spanish teacher for the 2023 spring semester. Depending on qualifications, the position available could be part-time or full-time. Successful candidates will be creative, energetic, and highly skilled teachers who are passionate about student-centered, collaborative, experiential learning. Candidates should also have a proven track record of success teaching Spanish as a second language to secondary students (middle and upper school).
Essential Qualifications:

- A minimum of a Bachelor's degree in a relevant subject discipline, e.g., Education or Spanish
- Proficiency in Spanish
- Teaching experience
- Ability to teach Spanish I and Spanish II
Desirable Qualifications:
- Experience with Project-based Learning
- Advanced degree / postgraduate qualification
- The ability to teach higher levels of Spanish and/or other subject disciplines.

Duties:
- Teach classes as assigned by the division principal that are aligned to the CCS mission, pillars, core values, and pedagogical philosophy.
- Communicate with division principal, dean of students, academic dean, and colleagues in a prompt and professional manner
- Regularly and promptly communicate with students and parents regarding academic progress
- Be available to work with students outside of class time for extra help
- Support the school at all times and its educational philosophy, objectives and policies, and conduct himself/herself at all times in a manner consistent with the best interest of the school
- Be prompt in all matters involving time deadlines, including but not limited to attendance at School, meetings, classes, grading and returning student work, and turning in grades and reports
- Perform such other reasonable duties upon assignment by the School Head, his designee, and/or the Educator’s Supervisor as are customarily performed by those in similar positions in independent schools and in accordance with the school’s plans, programs, schedules, and standards
- Keep all records and prepare and file all reports as required and directed by the School
- The Educator understands and agrees that he/she may be called on to perform duties, including extracurricular duties, which may often take place outside of what is generally considered to be the standard faculty school day (7:30 am - 3:30 pm)
