Community School of Naples is seeking a dynamic and innovative teacher to join our middle and upper school faculty as a lead instructor for computer science, VEX robotics, and makerspace-engineering programs. Inquiry, problem-solving, the engineering design process are at the heart of our curriculum, spanning a range of classes such as Introduction to Engineering; Inventors Workshop; Product Design; Wearable Electronics, Game Design (Unity & Minecraft); AI & Machine Learning; Cybersecurity; Robotics; and AP Computer Science.
The position requires a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Technology, Engineering or a related field. Three years of teaching or equivalent career experience is desired.
While the successful candidate may not have had the opportunity to teach aforementioned classes, they will be highly motivated to learn, practice, and gain the experience needed to make corresponding contributions to our curriculum. They will have a background in, or at least a strong proclivity towards, design thinking, fabrication technologies, coding, makerspace practices -- with a passion for teaching and mentoring students. CSN boasts classroom-makerspaces with 3D printers; laser cutters; vinyl cutters; all types of fabrication materials and mechanical supplies; machine tools; robotics parts; microcontrollers (arduino, raspberry pi, VEX); and sensors-peripherals with plans to extend and update those facilities.
Specific responsibilities include:
- Teach five classes with an average size of 12 students.
- Manage related extracurricular activities (e.g. competitive robotics & engineering projects.) These may require working with students outside of regular school hours.
- Collaborate and participate in the work of the department on innovative curriculum development, pedagogy, and assessment practices.
- Write evaluations of students at each marking period.
- Advise 8-10 students.

Compensation and Benefits
This full time position starts August 7, 2023 and is paid an annual salary commensurate with experience, degree attainment, and qualifications.
