Francis Parker School (Parker) is a coeducational independent day school in San Diego, California with 1,330 students in Junior Kindergarten through Grade 12. Job Description:
The Database Analyst at Parker will be instrumental in leveraging data to support the school mission-aligned strategic directions. This position will play a pivotal role in managing and optimizing our Student Information Systems (SIS) and other databases to provide KPIs (Key Performance Indicators) of students' academic journey. Working closely with stakeholders and thought leaders, the database analyst will implement data-driven dashboards and reports that provide critical insights for informed decision-making and strategic planning across all school divisions. Additionally, the Database Analyst will conduct workshops to leverage the SIS and other databases capabilities to key stakeholders.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
Execute and maintain data dashboards and reports to support strategic directions and operational decision-making.
Working in close collaboration with the registrar to ensure the integrity of data within the Student Information System and associated databases.
Provide expert analysis and interpretation of data to support school-wide objectives and improve educational outcomes.
Collaborate with department heads and administrators to identify data needs and develop solutions that enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
Advise on best practices for data management and contribute to the development of data governance policies.
Train faculty and staff on the use of data tools and dashboards to empower data-driven decision-making.
Lead workshops and serve as a resource for Parker Student Information System (Blackbaud) providing training and support to end users for day-to-day tasks.
Act as a liaison with external vendors to optimize database functionality and support system upgrades and enhancements.
Stay current with trends and advancements in database management and educational technology to recommend innovative solutions.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, with 3+ years of work-related experience
Proven experience in database management, data analysis, and dashboard creation.
Proficiency in data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI) and expertise in SQL.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to translate complex data into actionable insights.
Excellent communication and presentation skills to effectively convey findings and recommendations.
Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and independently when necessary.
Experience in an educational setting or understanding of educational data needs is preferred.
Preferred Qualifications:
Certification in database management or data visualization.
Certification in SQL
Familiarity with educational systems such as Student Information Systems (SIS Blackbaud), Learning Management Systems (LMS) and rostering services (Clever)
Knowledge of statistical analysis and predictive modeling techniques.
Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects effectively.
Salary and Benefits:
Parker is committed to attracting and retaining the highest quality faculty and staff through a substantial compensation plan, including competitive salary, TIAA retirement benefits and full medical/dental coverage. Individual salary is negotiable depending on years of experience and educational background.
Salary Range: $105,000 - $115,000 per year, based on experience.
