Hillel Day School of Metropolitan Detroit seeks an exceptionally creative, collaborative, and thoughtful Marketing and Special Events Manager to develop and implement a comprehensive, and strategic marketing plan designed to elevate the school’s profile, promote enrollment, and encourage fundraising, and to successfully plan and implement events throughout the year which generate revenue, attract students, and build brand awareness.
The Marketing and Special Events Manager will work both independently and in coordination with the fun-loving and supportive Advancement Team.
Responsibilities:
- In partnership with Admission, Fundraising, and Communication, develop and manage a marketing strategy that includes brand management, design and execution, advertising, social media, direct marketing, and other activities to support the school’s mission, vision, and strategic priorities
- Manage the production and delivery of marketing projects including digital and print publications, advertising campaigns, and other promotional materials meant to engage the targeted audience, increase the school’s visibility and competitive positioning, and enhance the perception of the school
- Work collaboratively to develop strategies to recruit prospective students and engage donors and alumni, including but not limited to open houses, magazines, annual reports, and admission packets, ensuring the school has a consistent look, feel, and message throughout
- Create and coordinate a comprehensive publications program (concept, design, and production for paper and electronic communications) that reaches and influences the school’s target audience
- Shape and maintain the strategic and creative direction of the school’s website that includes regular analysis of site traffic and content for continuous improvements and accuracy
- Develop and manage the integrated online presence on social media to inform, entertain, motivate, promote, build Hillel’s brand, and engage a variety of constituents
- Act as steward of the Hillel brand, ensuring that all members of the school maintain strong and consistent use of the school’s visual identity
- Stay current with marketing trends in the education sector and actively engage in professional development to remain current on best practices related to independent school marketing, emerging social media, and effective marketing and advertising strategies
- Ensure that all special events are engaging, creative, and implemented effectively
- Plan lively, creative, and memorable events to enhance the guest(s) experience
- Oversee all event logistics including but not limited to managing vendor relations, timeline, auction/software management, permits, entertainment, run of show, volunteers, and budgeting
- Create budget for each event and manage expenses to remain at or below budget
- In conjunction with the Director of Advancement, manage all relationships with in-kind donors
- Work with the Communications Coordinator to plan communications that meet the goals of the school
- Participate in and provide support to all fundraising and recruitment activities
Ideal candidates should possess the following credentials and qualities:
- Expertise in digital and print graphic design, layout, illustration, and brand identity
- Fluent in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, Premier Pro, Bridge, etc.) and Google Workspace
- Expertise in social media platforms and engagement
- Experience with working with a website Content Management System (CMS), preferably with Blackbaud
- Experience with website management
- Ability to conceive, shoot, edit, and produce high-quality photos and video
- Experience with organizing, editing, and maintaining a database of photo and video assets
- Project management experience and the ability to simultaneously move multiple projects forward in a fast-paced environment
- Demonstrated experience in developing and implementing marketing plans, strategies, tactics, and programs
- Exceptionally creative and extremely detail-oriented and organized
- Demonstrated ability to work well within a team environment
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Bachelor’s degree, preferably in arts, design, photography, marketing, or a related discipline
- A minimum of two years experience in a marketing role
