Hopkins School, an independent, gender-inclusive, college-preparatory day school in New Haven, Connecticut serving 715 students in grades 7-12, is seeking a full-time Associate Director of College Counseling. This is an exempt faculty employee (10 months, mid-August to mid-June) reporting to the Director of College Counseling.
Qualified candidates should be well-versed in the nuances of highly selective college admissions, as 100% of graduating students attend four-year colleges. Both college admissions and college counseling experience are preferred. A Bachelor’s degree is required; a Master’s degree is preferred. College counseling responsibilities include but are not limited to:
closely supporting approximately 30 juniors and 30 seniors and their families throughout the college search and application process
writing thorough and compelling letters of recommendation for those students
collaborating with members of college counseling department on programming, including presenting at parent night and other events
participating in professional development opportunities as appropriate.

Full-time faculty members typically serve as advisers for a group of 6-8 students in one grade; attend department, grade-level adviser, and faculty meetings (some of which occur before or after the school day); maintain verbal and written professional contact with students, colleagues and families; serve on one faculty committee; occasionally chaperone after-school student events; participate in the broader life of the School; and support the School community by setting a positive example in all areas of school life and upholding and enforcing school rules and procedures. Salary range is from $75,000 - $110,000 and will be commensurate with years of experience.
