Roles and Responsibilities:
'Iolani School is seeking a full-time Upper School Counselor to join our dynamic and collaborative upper school counseling team. Upper school counselors support and serve students in grades 7-12. The counselor will report directly to the Director of Counseling and will be responsible for
- Providing personal, social, and academic counseling and guidance to students.
- Coordinating all activity and communication involved in providing students support, such as meetings with students/families/teachers/administrators when a student is experiencing an academic or personal challenge.
- Overseeing the academic scheduling process for students.
- Helping students identify their challenges in the learning process, defining their learning style preferences, and assisting them in implementing strategies and in developing self-advocacy skills.
- Teaching a guidance course or structured study hall.
- Working with students in small group sessions.
- Providing guidance with organizational and study skills inclusive of note-taking and study strategies.
- Ensuring that all students experience a strong sense of belonging and are empowered to thrive during their time at 'Iolani School.
- Collaborating with the Director of Social & Emotional Health regarding student mental health and well-being.
Candidate:
The ideal candidate will,

Preference will be given to applicants with experience in learning support and social-emotional health.
A Master’s degree in Secondary School Counseling and 3-5 years of experience working with students in grades 7-12 is preferred.
