Island School seeks a Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to manage a range of non-academic areas of school life, as part of a strong leadership team. The CFO reports directly to the Head of School and is responsible for overseeing a roughly $8 million annual budget. Additional responsibilities include oversight of daily operations staff in areas of facilities, transportation, security, and food service, as well as fiduciary duties, connected to the school's endowment and other assets.
The ideal candidate will have experience and credentials in business administration, especially in non-profits, working with a broad range of constituent groups. Understanding accounting practices, risk management, and regulatory systems is also of great importance.
The school offers a highly collaborative setting with the CFO serving as an essential line of support for faculty, staff, families, and Board of Directors. The CFO manages a small staff of business office professionals in the direct work of that office, while at the same time helping develop strategies for the long term well being of this growing organization.
Island School is a WASC/HAIS accredited PK-12 independent day school with a total enrollment of 490+ students. The campus occupies nearly 40 acres, adjacent to Kauai Community College property since moving here in 1990, including a number of buildings, with a new classroom facility coming in line this summer. More information about Island School, its educational philosophies, its mission statement and its curriculum can be found on the school’s website at ischool.org. Island School is located on the island of Kaua'i, the northernmost inhabited island of the Hawaiian Island chain, which, due to its stunning natural beauty, is known as the "Garden Island."
Interested candidates are encouraged to send a letter of introduction, a resume and at least three professional references to hr@ischool.org. We will begin reviewing applications immediately and will close the application period when the position is filled. No phone calls, please.
