Madison Country Day School, a PreK-12 International Baccalaureate (IB) World School, is seeking an experienced educator for the 2023-24 school year as a full-time middle school Spanish teacher.
POSITION
Applicants should possess not just a love of the Spanish language and Spanish-speaking cultures, but also the desire to advance both an evolving school and their own professional expertise. The ideal candidate is an enthusiastic educator who inspires others through optimism, flexibility, and teamwork. The candidate should also possess a willingness to collaborate with dedicated educators within the MCDS faculty.
A SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE WILL
- Work within a collaborative World Languages department
- Have the ability to teach language through communication, culture, connections, comparisons, and communities.
- Have experience with or a willingness to learn the MYP Spanish curriculum
- Be comfortable teaching skills including critical problem-solving, questioning, and researching
- Be expected to contribute to the school’s extracurricular offerings and serve as a middle school advisor
- Have the ability to design and facilitate rigorous, empowering lesson plans that are student-centered and thought-provoking
- Have intellectual curiosity and a desire to spark a love of learning in students
- Have excellent communication skills, a genuine appreciation of adolescents, a sense of humor, and the ability to work well within a collaborative environment
- Believe in the intrinsic relationship between social-emotional learning and culturally responsive pedagogy

- Have a bachelor’s degree in a relevant field;
- At least 2 years of teaching experience;
- Excellent oral, organizational, and written communication skills.
- Experience with the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme is welcome, but not required.
