Manlius Pebble Hill School (MPH) seeks an enthusiastic teacher of Visual Art and Design for Middle and Upper School. The successful candidate must be a dedicated educator who embraces collaboration and productivity across all artistic disciplines. In addition, as the visual arts are an essential component of the MPH curriculum, this instructor will work to advance the development of MPH’s student artists within the academic program as a whole.
The teacher will instruct some grade-level Middle School art classes, and in the Upper School, will instruct foundational and advanced courses in studio art, design, and photography. In addition, experience with preparing student portfolios for submission in the college application process, including to art schools, is preferred. The instructor will also take the lead in submitting student work to the annual Scholastic Art Awards.
MPH places the health and well-being of its students at the center of its program, and the successful candidate will be able to reflect and demonstrate those priorities in their pedagogy. In addition, MPH teachers prioritize the importance of building relationships with students in an intellectually and creatively playful environment. At Manlius Pebble Hill, arts education is central to our mission of inspiring students to think critically, act responsibly, and discover a passion for lifelong learning.
Candidates must have at least a bachelor’s degree in art education or fine arts (an advanced degree is strongly preferred) and experience working in a school setting.
Send a cover letter, resume, statement of teaching philosophy, the names and contact information of four references, 15-20 images of recent students’ work, and 5-10 images of the candidate’s personal work to divisionheads@mphschool.org.
