Maret School seeks an inspiring and engaging physical education teacher and athletic coach. Ideal candidates place the student at the center of the learning process and embrace different teaching and learning styles.
Faculty members regularly collaborate with colleagues within the physical education and athletic department, as well as cross-departmentally, and stretch themselves as educators and coaches. Responsibilities include teaching physical education classes, coaching in the middle school, and at least two seasons of coaching in the upper school, with a minimum of one as a head coach. We seek a teacher/coach who loves creating innovative lessons, designing a program that addresses the needs of our student-athletes, and values being part of a team that affirms every member of our community.
This position includes serving as an advisor and carrying out one or more community responsibilities. The faculty member in this position reports to the physical education department chair/director of athletics.
Candidates must have a demonstrated commitment to equity and inclusion in their work.
As a teacher/coach, the successful candidate will:
Have experience as a head coach (varsity head coach preferred);
Display excellent classroom and team management skills; enthusiasm for working with students in lower, middle and upper school; and facility with technology;
Be committed to professional development and collaboration with colleagues;
Have a minimum of two years of teaching and coaching experience (preferred);
Have a master's degree (preferred)
Compensation will be between 68K-115K annually, depending on experience and qualifications.
