Summary
Nashoba Brooks School seeks a substitute teacher/after school program teacher for the spring term of the 2024-2025 academic year. Successful candidates will have a strong desire to work as part of a team in a dynamic school committed to excellence in 21st century education. This position is responsible for up to 18 hours of work per week between the hours of 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. through June 4, 2025. Responsibilities include, substitute teaching, after school program instruction, and support for student activities such as athletics, performing arts, or clubs for enrolled in Preschool through Grade 3.
Responsibilities
Strong candidates will demonstrate experience with and proficiency in:
Identifying and effectively addressing issues pertaining to students in Preschool through Grade 3, their learning
and their development.
Creating predictable and flexible routines.
Developing and implementing lesson plans that balance moments for free choice and structured time.
Supervise afterschool homework (Grades 1-3).
Assisting in developing activities that complement the academic day curriculum and promote development of gross and fine motor skills, creative problem solving, critical thinking, and collaborative play-based learning opportunities.
Embracing the importance of outdoor play on a daily basis.
Supervising students in the classroom and during outdoor play.
Maintaining observational records for each child.
Communicating effectively with caregivers about curriculum as well as student engagement, learning, and growth.
Collaborating effectively with colleagues, using open and professional communication.
Demonstrating the ability to lift and transport small children as needed, including in urgent situations.
Engaging effectively in a dynamic learning community by demonstrating flexibility, the willingness to contribute to the broader community, and thoughtful response to constructive feedback.
Qualifications
Coursework in early childhood education.
Experience working with children ages 3 - 9.
Strong oral and written communication skills.
Demonstrated commitment to and comfort with advancing the school’s core values of diversity, service learning, and character development.
