North Shore Country Day, a progressive, academically rigorous, co-ed, JK-12 independent school in suburban Chicago, seeks a highly qualified full-time, twelve-month, Systems/Network Administrator whose primary responsibility will be supporting the school’s wired and wireless networking systems, and infrastructure. There are two main areas of focus for this role. First, there is a particular focus on the administration and upkeep of the school’s network and ensuring trouble free configurations and connectivity. Second, the System Administrator will also provide support as part of a technology team, including support for systems connected to the network, and other platforms as assigned. NSCD utilizes Apple devices for instruction and administrative office support. The systems/network administrator reports to the Director of Technology.

Essential Responsibilities
The System Administrator will be expected to:
- Manage, maintain, and when necessary, make selection recommendations for Technology systems, configurations, and software. Current systems across all three divisions include, but are not limited to: Meraki Switches, cameras and WAPs, Palo Alto Firewalls, Windows 2019 Network Servers, Active Directory, Allworx VOIP system, Advanced Networking Devices Clocks and message boards, and Keyscan door security/access systems.
- Provide outstanding technology support and service to all school constituents as escalated from or in support of the Help Desk Manager. Problem-solve networking and connectivity issues, and escalate unresolved issues to the Director of Technology as needed.
- Assist with the maintenance, updates, and repair of school-wide systems and hardware. This may require coming to campus for support outside of standard school hours.
- Maintain accurate networking documents, maps and diagrams and update them each time changes, improvements, or equipment removals are made.
- Document, present to, and implement staff training as needed on both best practices and behavior to avoid in support of maximizing connectivity and productivity and minimizing downtime and class disruptions on various devices connecting to the network.
- Possess a willingness to grow and learn new platforms, systems, tools, and technologies in support of keeping the school technologically progressive and innovative.
- Participate in department-wide projects, collaborate with a team to solve complex problems and attend regular department meetings.
Qualifications
- A dynamic and positive personality coupled with a proactive approach to support is essential.
- Demonstrated ability to problem-pose, problem-solve, search for and understand technical answers and/or instructions is highly desired.
- Demonstrated technology knowledge and troubleshooting experience.
- Understanding of the Apple Education Ecosystem is desired.
- Knowledge of Windows, Windows Server, and Mac/iPad Hardware and Operating Systems including: connectivity, internet and network settings, system files, backup programs, peripherals and program integration.
- Knowledge of the Google Workspace for Education Fundamentals, the Blackbaud K-12 OnSuite, Finalsite, the Adobe Creative Cloud Suite (administrator level), JAMF MDM, 1and1 help desk platform, Active Directory, and/or the Microsoft Office Suite is preferable.
- Ability to maintain current and up-to-date expertise in a wide range of hardware, software and Operating Systems.
- Capacity to work both autonomously and as a team member.
- A Bachelor’s Degree or higher is preferred.
- Strong organizational, time and project management skills; problem solving skills; ability to exercise independent judgment; ability to establish effective working relationships with other faculty, staff and parents; and ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Experience working with Finalsite and educational databases are a plus
