Poly Prep seeks applicants for the position of Part Time School Nurse - LPN.
The essential function of the position within the organization is to administer medical assistance and first aid to students according to school health program procedures established by the Managing Registered Nurse, and within the scope of practice of a Licensed Practical Nurse.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES
Triage and treat ill and injured students on a walk-in basis
Provide emergency crisis nursing care in conjunction with RN for physically and/or psychologically ill and injured students and staff
Maintain communicable disease prevention and control through hygiene, education and enforcement of policy as set by the Managing Registered Nurse, Medical Director and the Dept. of Health
Maintain accurate, complete and confidential health records of students using appropriate software
Maintain required certifications and licenses; attend trainings as required
Perform other duties as assigned by the Managing Registered Nurse
Administer appropriate medications in accordance with physician orders and/or parental permission
Consulting with parents/teachers/medical professionals, providing health education, and performing related work as required
Hourly Wage: $30 - $40 per hour

QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Graduate of an accredited Licensed Practical Nursing program
Experience: Minimum 2 years previous school nursing experience
Specific Skills: Must possess thorough knowledge of the principles of licensed practical nursing, knowledge of medical terminology and use of basic medical equipment. Excellent clinical skills and the ability to work with school-age children. Excellent written, verbal and computer skills are a must.
Certifications: All qualified applicants must be graduates from an accredited school of practical nursing. Candidates must possess a current State of New York Licensed Practical Nurse License and registration, and a Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certificate.
