Job Description:
The Part-Time Special Education Teacher provides differentiated instruction and support for students with disabilities and learning differences. Working closely with classroom teachers, families, and outside providers, coordinates accommodations as well as implements support services, and advocates for an inclusive school culture. This role operates in compliance with New York State Education Law and the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) while respecting the values and mission of an independent school setting. This is a 10 month, part time position of approximately 20 hours per week.
Responsibilities:
Instruction & Intervention
Deliver direct, instruction to students through push-in, pull-out, or in class small group models
Design and implement differentiated lessons aligned to students’ academic needs and grade-level curricula
Provide small-group and individual academic intervention in reading, writing, math, executive functioning, or other areas of need
