R-MA is looking for an Upper School Computer Science Teacher to begin as soon as possible.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Ability to teach basic and advanced Computer Science courses including courses in Python, Java, robotics, app development and courses in Large Language Model Systems.
Promote digital citizenship and infuse technology meaningfully into instruction
Experience or an interest in project-based learning/inquiry based learning methodologies
Foster positive relationships with students, parents/guardians, and other faculty and staff
Use Understanding by Design in course development and foster project-based learning and authentic assessment throughout the curriculum
Uphold high expectations for all students and strive to meet the individual needs of each student
Ability to work in a team-based environment including ability to suggest methods for teacher collaborations, instructional integration, and cross-grade unit development
Provide supervision for evening and weekend activities on and off campus
Participate in extracurricular program.

Knowledge, Experience, Education, and Competencies
Bachelor’s degree in computer science.
Prefer 2 years of Computer Science teaching experience marked by pedagogical innovation and best practices.
Instruct students on facets of Java, Python, A-Frame, JavaScript, PHP, MySQL and other relevant technologies.
Instruct students on how computers work, including the basic science and mathematics behind their operation and the hardware and the software built on those foundations.
Ability to operate 3D printers, Glow forge laser cutter, and other maker space technologies.
Competency and comfort with Apple operating system, applications, and devices.
Cultivate problem-solving skills using real-world scenarios, guiding students to reason abstractly and quantitatively.
Student-centered, dynamic educator who uses a variety of instructional approaches.
Proven track record of success with student achievement at the Upper School level.
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to establish solid positive working relationships.
Ability to exercise sound judgment.
Prefer private, boarding school experience.
Must be able to mentor in small groups and manage some weekend supervision.
Must believe in and support the mission and vision of the Academy.
