Rippowam Cisqua School seeks a talented and experienced individual for the position of Human Resources and Payroll Manager. Understanding the culture of independent school education, this person will care for both our employees and the institution. This person will oversee the human resources and payroll functions, as well as perform other duties in this small, four-person Business Office, working directly with the Director of Finance, Controller, and Accounts Payable/Purchasing Manager.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Human Resources
- Perform new employee onboarding
- Provide employee relations and support for all faculty and staff
- Review and keep current the Employee Handbook
- Develop appropriate policies and programs for employee relations, harassment training, etc.
- Work with the Director of Finance in managing benefit costs
- Assist with the annual creation and distribution of employment agreements for faculty and staff
- Manage all leaves
Payroll
- Perform twice monthly payroll cycles and assure that proper procedures are followed for all time and labor tracking
- Assist employees who need to make changes within the payroll or benefits portals
- Maintain records of all benefit coverages and reconcile and approve invoices for all benefit costs
Other Duties
- Responsible for posting all deposits to general ledger and using a check scanner to deposit checks directly into accounts
- Processes all business office mail
- Handles physical bank runs as needed
- Reconciles accounts with Development department for gifts and pledge payments
- Assists Accounts Payable/Purchasing Manager as able and needed
Requirements for the position include:
- Bachelor's degree required
- Human resources and payroll experience, independent school experience preferred but not required
- Demonstrated success using Blackbaud, Paylocity, and Employee Navigator (benefits portal) or similar systems
- Good general computer skills using word processing, spreadsheets, email, and other general purpose applications
- A commitment to anti-bias and anti-racism work as well as promoting an inclusive, just, and equitable school community
- A genuine sense of humor, intellectual curiosity, flexibility, and a sincere interest in being part of a team
