Sacred Heart Academy “SHA” Bryn Mawr (PA) is a Catholic, independent college preparatory school for girls founded in 1865 by the Religious of the Sacred Heart of Jesus and lay-owned and governed since 1969. Serving approximately 200 students in kindergarten through twelfth grade, the School is seeking a self-directed, experienced, and energetic Afterschool Program Coordinator in anticipation of the 25-26 school year. This is a part-time position.
The Afterschool Program is for Sacred Heart Academy students in Kindergarten through Grade 4. It includes recreational activities and scheduled homework periods. The SHA Afterschool Program is held Monday through Friday from 3:45-5:30 p.m. The Afterschool Program Coordinator will supervise students and help with homework, provide snack time, and monitor outside and inside play activities. Enthusiasm, a strong work ethic, and impeccable organizational skills are key.
Sacred Heart educators immerse students in diverse global perspectives, developing competencies such as critical consciousness, language facility, and cultural literacy. The ideal candidate should model these values.
Responsibilities
Supervise a group of lower school students from 3:45-5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday
Assist with homework as needed
Provide snack time
Create and supervise outside and inside play activities
Provide First-Aid if needed
Maintain clear communication with parents and guardians at pick-up
High school diploma
Experience working with young children in a recreational and/or educational setting required
Excellent organizational, communication, interpersonal, and time management skills
Demonstrated ability to connect with and make a positive impact on young people
The ability to communicate and work effectively with students, parents and guardians, teachers, administrators, and staff
Willingness to engage with and learn from people with diverse backgrounds and experiences
Commitment to promoting “the inherent dignity of the human person and (striving) for relationships characterized by inclusion and mutual respect” (Sacred Heart Goal IV Criteria 1)
Demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional growth and development
Appreciation of and commitment to single gender education
Eagerness to contribute positively to the SHA community and uphold its Mission including a commitment to the Sacred Heart Goals and Criteria
Ability to bring joy, kindness, maturity, and flexibility to the school environment
