Sequoyah School seeks a Counselor and Heath & Wellness Specialist. This position will teach Health & Wellness classes 5th-12th grade, and support students and families through 1:1 counseling and communication Kindergarten-12th grade.
Key areas of work include:
Participating in managing the Counseling and Health & Wellness program to assure inclusive practice for all students
Supporting planning and implementation of faculty professional development and training
Advising and collaborating with Deans and Directors on individualized student plans
Position Overview
Sequoyah School is expanding its Health & Wellness program and seeks a Counselor and Heath & Wellness Specialist.
Roles and Responsibilities
Leadership
Demonstrate cultural competence in interpersonal communication
Support parent education coffees/meetings to help our community learn about important issues related to adolescent development and parenting
Work with team to support relevant training for staff, students and parents
Counseling
Hold daily Office Hours including, but not limited to student breaks, lunch, and after school
Prioritize equipping students to be in class
Utilize student information system to maintain detailed records of student support
Work with the student support team to connect students requiring regular counseling with external support services
Teaching
Teach Health & Wellness classes, 4-9 hours per week, from an established curriculum
Qualifications
Qualified candidates must have a minimum of three (3) years relevant experience as a counselor, therapist, or psychologist and must have experience working with middle or high school students.
Successful candidates will also have the following qualifications:
A graduate degree in counseling, therapy, psychology, or related field
License Preferred – MSW, LCSW, LMHC, NCC
Background as a psychologist, mental health counselor, or clinical social worker
A commitment to equity and inclusion

An understanding of anti-bias and anti-racist practices
Demonstrated ability to provide effective emotional, psychological, and social support
Demonstrated ability to be a valuable resource for students, parents, faculty, and staff
Ability to to develop durable relationships with outside specialists and health professionals to determine and maintain needed supports and strategies for students
Strong written communication skills and proficiency with basic computer applications and technology tools
