Shattuck-St. Mary’s is seeking a full-time American Sign Language (ASL) teacher for the 2025-2026 school year. Candidates should be able to teach all levels of ASL.
Founded in 1858, Shattuck-St. Mary’s School (SSM) is an Episcopal, co-educational, college preparatory, independent boarding/day school serving 400 students in grades 6th-post graduate from 40 states and 22 countries. Set on a beautiful 250-acre campus in Faribault, Minnesota, SSM offers a mix of traditional and progressive education, combining classroom and online learning to best prepare students for college and beyond. Class sizes at SSM are capped at 18 students per section and the student body is motivated to succeed. By cultivating creative and independent thinking, SSM fosters the transformation of its students to become citizens of integrity for an ever-changing world.
Ideal candidates will have a strong interest in working with students in grades 6 – 12 and be happy in a small school where collaboration, connection, and community come first. World Language classes at SSM are often multi-age as students join our school at different points in their language instruction; therefore, candidates should be prepared to teach students in different grade levels in the same classroom. Candidates will be comfortable instructing in an innovative educational environment, familiar with technology in the classroom, and open to blended teaching. In addition, the World Language Department is looking for a collegial team player to work with other members of the department in regular meetings and collaborative projects.
Shattuck St. Mary’s is a boarding/day school and faculty members are expected to be involved with both co-curricular activities and standard residential life duties involved with a residential school setting. In addition, full-time teachers serve as advisors to a group of students. Shattuck-St. Mary’s teacher salaries are based on experience and range from $38,000 for beginning teachers to the mid-70s for our most experienced faculty members. In addition to cash salaries, SSM teachers are eligible to receive generous benefits including family housing and meals on campus.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Candidates will have demonstrated experience instructing in a student-centered, innovative educational environment, be familiar with technology in the classroom, and be well-versed in the academic and developmental needs of students in middle school.
Candidates should have at least 2-4 years’ experience teaching; however, we will consider exceptional first-year teaching candidates.
