Latin Teacher (Middle School & Upper School)
St. Anselm’s Abbey School seeks an experienced, full-time teacher of Latin to start August 2023. Latin is a central part of the curriculum at St. Anselm’s and is a required course for all students in grades 7 through 10.
Teaching Responsibilities:
- Teach between four and six sections of Latin to students in grades 7 through 12, spanning all levels from Latin I-A to Advanced Placement.
- Design and execute a rigorous and engaging curriculum, including a variety of instructional and assessment tools.
- Collaborate with other faculty members within the Classical Language Department to ensure consistency and continuity in the curriculum.
- Participate actively in grade-level teaching teams and seek out opportunities for cross-curricular learning with teachers in other departments.
- Support student success by providing individual and small-group tutorial instruction during study hall periods and after school.
- Communicate proactively and regularly with parents, administrators, and other faculty about student progress.
- Contribute to the life of the school as a club moderator, advisor, and/or coach; serve on relevant faculty committees; attend faculty meetings, school assemblies, and occasional evening and weekend events.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Headmaster.

Qualifications:
- At least an undergraduate degree in Classics or a related field; a graduate degree is preferred.
- Teaching experience, preferably at the middle school and/or high school level.
- The ability to teach Ancient Greek (levels 1 and 2) would be a plus.
- A demonstrated passion for the classics and a commitment to professional development.
- An understanding of and support for the mission of St. Anselm’s Abbey School.
