SUMMARY:
The Physical Education teacher will provide instruction for students in Preschool through Grade 8, as well as coach three seasons in our afterschool athletics program.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Teaching Responsibilities:
- Plan and teach dynamic classes that affirm and support Turning Point’s mission and values
- Create an environment conducive to learning that facilitates the physical, social, emotional, and academic development of students
- Provide clear performance objectives for student, parent, and administrative reference
- Provide differentiated, varied classroom instruction using a multi-modal approach
- Integrate instruction with other subject area curriculum, as appropriate
- Develop and implement student assessment methods that will consistently and continuously provide a basis for evaluation and reporting student progress
- Set behavioral expectations and hold students accountable
- Coordinate with classroom teachers regarding individual students
- Write report cards
- Participate in parent conferences as requested
- Communicate with department members regarding shared classes
- Attend daily department meetings
- Set up and break down class activities
- Care for and store all equipment
- Maintain a neat and orderly environment in office, classrooms, and shared spaces
- Oversee boys’ locker room
Coaching Responsibilities:
- Coach three seasons, fall, winter, and spring in our afterschool athletics program
- Develop and communicate clear and specific goals for the team and individual players
- Consistent and appropriate communication with students, parents, and other coaches
- Develop and demonstrate best practices, specific to sport and grade level
- Pursue professional development opportunities
- Model and teach skills necessary to find success on and off the playing field Support student academic expectations
- Provide an atmosphere of teamwork and collaboration
- Create and maintain a safe and healthy environment for all students
School-wide Responsibilities
- Participate in admissions process for new students
- Attend division meetings and all-school meetings
- Participate in professional development
- Serve on school committees as appropriate
- Attend division-wide and all-school assemblies and events as required
- Emergency drill participation and training
- Perform assigned student supervision duties

Education and/or Experience:
- Associate of Arts or Associate of Science Degree or Bachelor's degree from a four-year accredited college is preferred
- 2 years of teaching or coaching experience in a school environment is required
