Winston Preparatory School is searching for teachers and specialists to work 1:1 or in the classroom (i.e. History, Science, Math and Literature) at our Whippany, NJ campus. These positions have an immediate opening.
Winston Preparatory School is a day school for 4th-12th grade students with learning differences such as dyslexia, nonverbal learning disabilities, expressive or receptive language disorders and executive functioning problems. Our mission is to facilitate the independence of individuals with learning difficulties through assessment-driven education, research and outreach.
Through our Focus Program, each student receives a daily period of one-to-one instruction targeting his or her greatest areas of need, challenging their strengths and developing essential skills. This allows us to further personalize instruction so that our students can better understand themselves and better verbalize what they need to become life-long independent learners.
Focus teachers provide individualized remediation for students in a one-to-one setting. Content teachers deliver classroom instruction to groups of students in core content areas (like Literature or Math) with the goal of integrating a wide range of skills and content tailored to individual needs. All teachers are given daily prep time in their schedules.
The successful candidate is a highly skilled teacher, preferably with Literature & Writing experience, who can take on teaching responsibilities for both Content and Focus.
The ideal candidate is:
- Highly professional, punctual, and dependable
- Computer savvy; Comfortable using Google Suite and similar applications
- A creative and flexible thinker; Open to learning how we teach students with learning differences
- A team player
- Highly skilled in writing and communicating
The nature of this position allows for someone with a diverse background. Good candidates include SLP's, reading or learning specialists, special educators, social workers, and strong teachers. For more information, go to www.winstonprep.edu.
