The Part-Time Lower School Learning Specialist works closely with the Lower School Principal, Full Time Learning Specialist, additional support team members, and teachers to support students.
Essential duties and responsibilities:
- co-teaching literacy, reading, and writing skills with children in small push-in and/or pull-out groups
- working with students one-on-one
- providing specially designed instruction to assist students in the acquisition of skills and knowledge at Tier 1, 2 & 3 of Response to Intervention (RTI)
- working and consulting with classroom teachers and the leadership team in support of students with learning disabilities
- participating in various meetings (CSE Meetings, parent conferences, weekly Child Study team meetings, in-service training for teachers, etc.)
- utilizing researched-based knowledge and programs such as the Wilson Program
- supporting teachers in areas of the literacy curriculum to differentiate instruction for a wide variety of learners
- leading and/or supporting parent workshops in the areas of reading and writing development
- support the Admissions team in ongoing applicant screenings
- maybe asked to attend faculty meetings or other after school events to support the life of the school
- engage in DEI and Identity work and development.

- other duties as assigned
A successful candidate will have experience as a learning specialist or in a related field, is collaborative, and be confident working in a high-performing environment. In addition, we seek candidates active and up to date with best practices in teaching and learning.
Qualifications/Education:
An undergraduate degree in reading, literacy, psychology or special education is required for this position; a Master’s degree is preferred. Prior experience in a general education setting is required.
