Friends School of Baltimore has an opening for an Associate Teacher in our Pre-Primary. The primary job of the Associate Teacher is to assist the Head Teacher in teaching and managing the students in their class. The Associate Teacher supports the established curriculum and program. The Associate Teacher role may vary slightly per class depending on the age and developmental level of the students and the individual gifts and talents that they bring to the job. This position has medical benefits. Associate Teachers work 7:45 a.m. – 3:45 p.m. Monday-Friday. This position is for the 2022-23 school year.
Here is a general overview of Associate Teacher duties:
- With Guided Instruction from the Head Teacher - Teaching math or small group classes, as needed
- Assisting with the teaching of small groups and supporting curriculum needs as determined by the Head Teacher
- Escorting children to/from and assisting students while in special subject classes
- Helping to maintain a visually attractive teaching space
- Helping to supervise recess, snack, and lunch time
- Assisting with teaching the class during circle time, worship, calendar, and sharing
- Support in the development of students’ social skills
- Arrival and Dismissal supervision of students
Being present on the days the Head Teacher is out and performing his/her duties with the help of an assistant or substitute teacher
Associate Teachers are respected members of the teaching facility and are encouraged to participate in professional development opportunities. They receive two paid personal days as part of their benefits package. They attend All-School Professional Day activities and beginning and closing year faculty meetings. They are welcome to attend our weekly LS faculty meetings.
Associate Teachers work closely with the Head Teacher to incorporate multi-sensory teaching techniques into their teaching style and have an understanding of the developmental needs of our young students.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree required; experience preferred
