Greenwich Academy seeks an outstanding computer science teacher for its Upper School Engineering & Computer Science Department. The successful candidate will be a dynamic and accessible teacher, dedicated to helping students of all levels challenge themselves to think critically and creatively. While the ability to teach Java and JavaScript and to prepare students for an AP exam is important, of greater significance is an ability to use computer science as a medium through which to teach algorithmic thinking and creative problem solving. Experience and interest in leading an Upper School Vex robotics program is a significant plus for this role.
Successful candidates will be flexible, open-minded and eager to join a collaborative department. They will be excited to work in a rigorous academic environment and to immerse themselves in the school community. We expect all teachers to embrace a commitment to a variety of teaching strategies, to be enthusiastic learners themselves, and to be dedicated to sustaining a culture of anti-racism and anti-bias in our community. Through our coordinate program with Brunswick School, science classes at GA are coed.
