Mathematics Faculty Position:
Marianapolis Preparatory School seeks a qualified mathematics teacher, preferably with three to five years of experience in an independent school setting, to teach full-time in the Mathematics Department. The qualified applicant ideally has at least a minimum of two years of experience teaching high school level mathematics, with preference given to those candidates who can also teach upper level mathematics, including calculus and statistics. An undergraduate degree in mathematics or a related field is necessary. In addition, the school seeks a candidate who has knowledge and experience in using educational technology in the classroom. ClearTouch Technology is utilized to facilitate multimodal instruction. Preference will be given to candidates who have:
- excellent oral and written communication skills
- the ability to balance the normal demands of a wide range of responsibilities
- conducting activities and lessons based on English language teaching methodologies
- experience in using innovative approaches and instructional strategies including the effective use of technology, to increase student confidence and learning
All teacher candidates are expected to have either experience or interest in learning the Understanding by Design curriculum development framework. Preferred candidates must enjoy working with adolescents, have an ability to work well in a student-centered curriculum, and understand student learning styles and differentiated instruction.
In addition, the full-time position includes advising, participation as an athletic coach or activities leader for two seasons each year, and involvement in residential life —understanding that the typical commitment involves both after school activities and weeknight-weekend supervision.
