Upper School French Teacher

Randolph School is seeking an innovative upper school French teacher with a growth mindset. The ideal candidate is a native or near-native French speaker, can teach students at every level of French, including Advanced Placement, and is committed to offering students an inspiring, language-learning experience.
Applicants should have at least a BA degree in French, teaching experience and training in Foreign Language education. Requirements include fully fluent language usage, excellent pronunciation, ability to teach totally in the target language, a firm understanding of French syntax, vocabulary and culture, classroom management skills, collegiality, and a keen desire to work with young people.
The ideal candidate will:
- Demonstrate a deep fluency and mastery of the French language.
- Teach French Level 1 through AP French to upper school students (grades 9-12).
- Collaborate with department members on pedagogy and curricular scope and sequence
- Effectively monitor and manage student learning with effective systems and routines in place
- Possess a sincere and visible commitment to best critical thinking, reading, writing, and research practices and continued professional development
- Serve as an advisor for a group of 10-12 upper school students
- Champion students as their classroom teacher and faculty advisor, developing positive relationships with students, their families, and the community
- Understand and appreciate independent school philosophy
- Inspire students to reach high standards
- Serve as a full member of the community by leading clubs, electives, or activities beyond classroom duties, attend school events such as concerts and games, and serve as proctor as needed
- Provide support for all learners through diverse strategies and approaches in a caring classroom environment where students learn and collaborate positively with one another
- Understand and appreciate independent school philosophy
Teaching experience in a rigorous, college preparatory program at the secondary level and a passionate desire to contribute to co-curricular activities, especially in athletics and/or the arts will be given additional consideration.
Qualifications
A master’s degree in French is preferred and 3+ years of experience teaching Upper School students.
