We are currently seeking an Upper School Math Specialist to join in the vision of our Math Department for the 2022-2023 school year.
Position: Upper School Mathematics Specialist
Reports to: Upper School Head
FLSA Status: Exempt
Job Summary: Essential Responsibilities/Capabilities:
- Provide targeted tutorial assistance for students, grades 9 -12, across all areas of the Mathematics curriculum – Algebra I, Algebra II, Geometry, Precalculus, Calculus.
- Work closely with the Learning Specialist to identify students in need of additional strategies, remediation, and enrichment so that their academic needs are met.
- Recommend strategies and accommodations to support students with math vulnerabilities, math anxiety, and learning disorders etc.
- Foster innovation and creativity in mathematics instruction.
- Support teachers in creating appropriate differentiated learning experiences in the mathematics classroom.
- Assist with the administration and proctoring of school-based and standardized tests.
- Work closely with the Mathematics Chair and members of the department on data analysis to drive instructional decisions, increase student achievement, and raise standardized test scores.
Qualifications
- Love of teaching, commitment to all-girl education, and dedication to the goals and criteria of Sacred Heart schools.
- Master’s Degree in Mathematics
- Minimum of 12 credits in Special Education with expertise in Learning Disabilities and Math Literacy.
- Minimum of 3 years of classroom or small group teaching experience with adolescent students who require specialized mathematics instruction.
- Working knowledge of current research-based methodology and best practices in the area of mathematics instruction.
- Effective oral and written communication skills to maintain open and cooperative communication with students, teachers and parents.
- Organizational and time management skills.
- Technical skills necessary to support test coordination and administration.
- Willingness to grow professionally by attending professional conferences and keeping current with research-based study.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
