Sierra Canyon School seeks a full-time Communications and Development Assistant to join the Development team to support the functions of our marketing, fundraising program, and special events. The ideal candidate has a keen attention to detail and is an outgoing and hardworking individual. The candidate will also need to be able to think creatively and be self-motivated with strong interests in marketing, design, photography and video creation, social media, and writing. Experience in higher education settings or independent schools is preferred. They will report to the Director of Communications and the Director of Annual Giving. The anticipated start date is on or before, but not limited to, June 1, 2022.

Key Responsibilities:
- Provide support with all Communications and Development administrative needs
- Draft and edit Communications copy and material
- Manage Raisers Edge and Blackbaud databases
- Spearhead and organize the department’s filing
- Help with design projects for publications
- Assist with planning special events and attend all events related to Development, may include weekends and late nights
- Draft and acknowledge gifts made to the annual fund
- Provide support for all PR-related events, including photo and video documentation for social media posts and new stories
- Participate in team meetings and brainstorms
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, business, or related fields
- 1+ years’ experience in Raisers Edge/Blackbaud
- Strong written, verbal, and organizational skills
- Applied understanding of basic marketing principles
- Familiarity with major social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, etc.)
- Adept in basic photography and video
- Creative problem-solving skills
- Self-starter with ability to work independently
- Comfortable with multitasking in a deadline-driven environment
- Experience in Microsoft office (excel, word, PowerPoint, etc.) and Adobe products (Photoshop, Illustrator, inDesign, etc.)
