Primary student attendance and missed commitments authority, providing support to teachers, dorm parents, coaches, and staff in regards to issues of attendance and missed commitments.
Assist in developing new programs and initiatives to assist students in meeting school expectations and develop as members of the school community.
Assist the Dean of Students in promoting and enforcing positive student behavior, including, investigations of student misconduct, coordinating Deans boards, working with faculty and staff, and the implementation of consequences.
Consult and advise on student policies as they regard discipline and student life.
Provide leadership on issues of student formation and behavior, supporting the larger faculty and staff in creating a strong, disciplined, well-formed, and achievement-oriented school culture.
Oversee and manage the Forman Pass program.
Problem solved with teachers, administrators, and staff around especially challenging students and behaviors.
Personally demonstrate the persistence, insistence, and consistency necessary to inspire positive behavior.
Actively promote and teach the school policies and tenets both formally and informally during countless “teachable moments”.
Motivate and focus all faculty and staff on student performance and on reaching for increasingly high levels of student achievement.
Be a regular presence in classrooms, dorms, playing fields, and around the general campus promoting positive student behavior.
Recognize and celebrate student achievement.
Assist in the planning and running of social, recreational, and curriculum programs throughout the year and during student orientation.
Address parent concerns, as they arise, in regards to student behaviors and student life.
Proactively communicate with parents.
Assist in the monitoring and supervision of school facilities and grounds.
Act as an Administrator on Duty.
Work with members of the Dean's office (Asst. Head of School, Dean of Students, Dean of Residential Life, and Dean of Student Life), Counselors, and Health Staff to promote a team oriented approach to a strong student culture, healthy student decisions, and positive student behavior, assisting any member of these groups in achieving these goals.
Act as a member of various ad hoc and standing committees as necessary.
Support the school and its leadership.
Serves the needs of the students through residential, extracurricular, and co-curricular programs. Individual duties may vary but will likely include the following:
- Primary or relief dorm parent.
- Advisor.
- Coach two athletic or extracurricular activities if not a primary dorm parent.
- Chaperone weekend activities as part of a rotating duty schedule
Assist in clubs and/or various school activities/programs.
Other Expectations: This position is a member of a boarding school faculty. Candidates should be interested in contributing outside of the classroom and becoming fully involved in the student life program. Faculty are expected to demonstrate respect for diversity of identities and experiences, an orientation toward equity and inclusion, and cultural competency in all aspects of School life.
General Experience:
- 3+ years of work experience preferably at a secondary institution. Preferably within teaching or counseling.
- Demonstrated experience in building relationships, working collaboratively with a variety of stakeholders, and forming and sustaining effective partnerships with diverse stakeholders and organizations
- Highly organized and efficient at task prioritization
- Experience in advising and mentoring students
- Excellent verbal, written, facilitation, and presentation skills
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team-based environment
