POSITION SUMMARY
The Hewitt School seeks a postdoctoral fellow for a two year position to support the work of Hewitt’s Assistant Head of School for Learning and Innovation Dr. Maureen Burgess and Hewitt’s Director of Learning and Innovation Research Dr. Sarah Odell across five major projects enacting Hewitt’s strategic vision: 1) managing programming as well as measuring program efficacy related to Hewitt’s downtown studio; 2) working on an instructional coaching model with Dr. Frances Rust, former director of teacher education at the University of Pennsylvania and professor emerita at Steinhardt School of Education, New York University; 3) qualitative research with Dr. Carol Gilligan on girls’ voices; 4) understanding student disparities on discipline with Dr. Lauren Bailes, the University of Delaware College of Education; and 5) helping to build out a model and programming on gender and leadership rooted in youth participatory action research with Hewitt students.
The postdoctoral fellow will engage in work that will directly impact students and faculty, meeting Hewitt’s commitment to be a leader in gender research and improvement science. The fellow will have opportunities to write and publish in partnership with the director of learning and innovation research and other affiliated research scholars. This position is non-renewable.
Qualifications: A Ph.D. in education policy, educational leadership, curriculum and instruction, sociology, or gender and women’s studies. Highly desirable work experiences include previous experience with research and school partnerships, developing and delivering teacher professional development, qualitative or mixed-methods research studies, research grants, or publication preparation. Content expertise in gender and education, gender and leadership, leading for school change, and instructional leadership is especially welcome.
