JOB OVERVIEW
Villa Academy is seeking a Lower School Learning Support Specialist Assistant. Learning Support is designed to assist students who experience difficulty with some aspect of learning, thus affecting their academic growth.
RESPONSIBILITIES: The Learning Support Specialist Assistant plays a vital role in teaching students of concern or with documented learning differences. This person teaches strategies and specific skills to help students achieve academic success. Primary responsibilities of the Learning Support Specialist Assistant include:
- Provide a combination of small group intervention-based instruction and classroom push-in support for kindergarten through fifth grade students;
- Closely collaborate with the lower school learning support specialist and coordinate scheduling to support maximum student support across multiple grade levels;
- Facilitate classroom accommodations for qualified students;
- Help proctor standardized testing accommodations for Lower School students;
- Continually provide and seek out resources to assist students;
- Participate in grade level and division meetings and perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS: Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Successful school-based experience working with students experiencing a broad range of learning needs as well as a strong background in interventions for learning disabilities;
- Commitment to the mission, vision and values of Villa Academy;

- Knowledge and application of instructional technology including document cameras, interactive whiteboards, web based learning software and Google apps.
